Prior to patch 1.0.6o, Spitfire was classified as a gray coat.Technically, she made her first debut in 2.7, not Anniversary Edition. With the release of the Yellowstone Wolf coat pack in the modern game, she is referenced again with the coat "926F" this time with the subtitle "Spitfire". Her first debut was in the Lamar Canyon set by her designation or wolf ID "926F". Spitfire appears twice in the game's selection of coat textures.DLC coats only appear on courtable wolves and pups if the player owns and has installed the relevant DLC add-on(s).Within a few patches after their initial teaser feature, they could no longer appear on NPC wolves. These were occasionally observed on wolves who were non-courtable.Some non-courtable NPC wolves possessing new coats from the Hall of Fame, Founder, and Cool coats packs were spotted along with the release of Slough Creek in the Anniversary Edition remake. This roll doesn't occur at all for gray-gray pairs. The condition requires it to be born to a black-black combination of parents it's unknown if the same applies to gray-black pairs. A pup born to the player-wolf has a 25% chance of receiving the KK gene dependent on genetics factors. In other words, it is not a hardcoded value. Dispersal wolves, their roaming groups, and rival wolves (including the 1-4 predetermineds) belonging to an established pack who holds territory and is named on the world map when viewing pack claim all share the same 10% chance of rolling KK in place of their usual Kk if they are genetically black, further supporting the gene being rolled at random during world generation. The player can re-roll their odds anytime by changing the wolf's coat or tint to gray, saving, then reverting to any black combination. A created playable wolf has a 10% chance of receiving the KK gene during wolf customization. However, the odds are both low and random. It is possible for the player to create a wolf possessing the lethal or fatal black (KK) gene.
